Better Connected supports people who are experiencing complex situations, and their networks. We provide support management through a variety of ways, including:
- Management of a person’s support needs
- Advocacy
- Building the capacity of staff and family through training and coaching
- Support and guidance
Working from a strong values base, we believe that every person needs to live connected with others who care about them. In a way that develops a person’s qualities for the benefit of themselves, as well as for their family and those around them.
Better Connected builds relationships that demonstrate unconditional love, meaning that the person knows that support peoples’ attitude and care towards them doesn’t depend solely on their behavior. We have a deep commitment to both the person and the people who care about them, through the good times and the bad.
Some examples of the support services we currently provide are:
> training, guidance and coaching to a team of staff who support a woman with complex health and behavioural needs to live in her own home.
> facilitation of effective communication between support networks, e.g. allied services/clinicians, family and support staff.
> hands-on support for a nine year old boy with complex behaviours to provide his family with respite. This support is provided in his home, community and in recreational spaces.
> supporting a mother with practical strategies and guidance to enable her 20 year old son to connect and engage in community experiences, away from their home.
